The graveyard book By: Neil Gaiman

If this book doesn't become a classic, then I don't know what will.
The Graveyard book follows Nobody Owens, Bod for short. He whole family becomes murdered one night when he was a baby. He then escapes to the graveyard and is taken in and raised by ghosts. However, as he grows older, he find himself wanting to explore the outside world. But are there more dangers outside the graveyard than Bod knows about?

This story is about unusual relationships, bravery and that maybe not all ghosts are as evil as others.

I have previously read Coraline which is another book by Neil Gaiman. What I have discovered that although his writing is not particularly complex, the scenes he creates are so amazingly realistic and intriguing. It empathizes on the main surroundings and some specific details but leaves the rest to imagination.

All of Neil Gaiman's stories and characters are so unique but I especially loved the characters from this book. My favorites were Bod and his guardian. Silas, his guardian, is a rather more distant spirit and most of the time hides his true emotions. However, it is unmistakable that he cares for Bod as his own son. As we near the end of the story, we find out more about Silas's past and inner workings.

As for Bod, growing up in a graveyard and being raised by ghosts has bound to make you an unusual child. But that doesn't make his any less likable. It earns his the readers compassion every step of the way as we follows his through the early 15 years of his life. Although it is very subtle, many changes to his personality can be observed as he grows older.

The storyline is quite slow paced and I took many breaks while reading it. It actually made it even more enjoyable as it allowed you to slowly witness his life and events while experiencing your own. There was a great deal of foreshadowing leading up to the thrilling climax towards the end.

I thoroughly loved reading The Graveyards book, and I look forwards to picking up more of Neil Gaiman's work.

Wants her ex, Adam, back. But Brantley's stolen him. Slowly, during the last few months of High school, the three lives intertwine together and experience things that change their lives forever.
