The female of the species - book review I listened to the audiobook of "the female of the species" and I think this is one of the best ya books you could possibly give to a teen. This book is about a group of teenagers about to graduate from high school in a small town. Alex, who feels too much, whose sister was hurt and killed by a man who didn't get put away. Her anger management issues are also much more dangerous than anyone would expect Jack, missing the childhood friend she was, keeps giving Branley what she wants.
